Transitions

Hannah will be a year on Saturday. Yes. This Saturday.  As I wipe away my tears, I've been transitioning our house to a house of a toddler and no longer an infant.

This month Hannah started drinking whole milk. She totally loves it.

She actually loves it a little too much. She drinks so much that she's gaping for air after taking a "sip" and then burps. It's so cute.

This weekend I also went through Hannah's toys and packed up all her infant toys. Another sad day.

Today I opened up the cabinet where we keep Hannah's bottles, plates, and bowls.  Well, I realized that we didn't need the bottles anymore and that made me sad, too. So, the space where the bottles used to sit is now full of sippy cups.

Wes continues to assure me that she is supposed to grow up, but I'm not taking it as well.  Last night we were playing in her room before bedtime and she was clapping and laughing and being silly and I just thought "wow, this is the same baby that just laid there and slept a few short months ago."

I know she will continue to grow, but will time ever slow down? Just a reminder to me to savor every single moment.

The show must go on

Do mommies get sick days? I've learned this week that the answer is .......no! Wednesday evening I came down with a horrible cough.  I proceeded to get through Thursday, but when it was not getting better by today I realized I needed to go to the doctor.

Turns out I have the onset of bronchitis and am now on 2 antibiotics. I'm feeling better already! Amazing what medicine can do. Anyway, the point is that as a mommy, I've realized that time doesn't stop even when you're not feeling up to the job. Mouths still need to be fed, diapers changed, laundry done, baths...and the list goes on. I am barely surviving and could desperately use a sick day today, but....the show must go on, and this little face makes it so worth it!

Big Girl!

We are always telling Hannah what a big girl she is. Every time she lets us wipe her face without squirming, change her diaper without doing flips and without having to chase her from room to room to get a shirt and pants on her! We'll reward her with a "what a big girl!"

Well, today she REALLY turned into a big girl.

That's right. She's standing by herself. What a big girl!

Spring Fever

Poor Hannah woke up Friday morning with fever. Pretty good track record considering this was her first fever, ever. She almost made it a year!

Trying to avoid being "that" mom that calls the doctor at the first sight of anything out of the ordinary, I just brushed it off and thought she probably had some teeth coming in and opted to the quick fix of Tylenol. That did the trick...for 4 hours and then I had to repeat.

So, after a long weekend with a fussy, feverish baby, we headed to the doctor this morning.  Poor darling has a cold and an an ear infection.

We are now on an antibiotic and she should be 100% within a couple of days. I sure have enjoyed the cuddle time, but I'm ready for my happy, healthy baby to return!

Blog Makeover!

My sister’s friend from high school and roommate in college, Carrie, has an amazing blog.  I commented last week on her blog about how I just loved the way it looked. She’s always posting fun pictures with neat little things. Anyway, she was so kind to offer to give me a blog overhaul. I was so glad, because I totally needed it!

Be sure and check out Carrie’s blog here and read about her passion for Jesus, her family, homeschooling and adoption.

Enjoy my new blog layout! I know I will. And a HUGE thank you to Carrie!!!

Red Dress

The day I found out I was having a girl, my friend Ashley left 2 little dresses on my doorstep for when I got home from work that day. I will always remember the pink and white checked bag with pink tissue paper and 2 sweet dresses all wrapped up. That was the very beginning of LOTS of pink!

What I loved most about the dresses, is that they WEREN'T pink. Although I love Hannah in pink, it's nice to put her in something with some other colors.

Anyway, here is Hannah in one of the cutest red dresses. This was the sweetest little outfit I had for her when she was so small.

(I wish I would have captured a better picture of it)

Well, a couple of weeks ago Tyler had a huge (and that's an understatement) consignment sale. I was ecstatic when I found this same adorable dress in Hannah's size now!

It's just as precious as before, but the little girl has a little more attitude than when she wore it the first time. haha!

Even  better news...they had this dress in Hannah & Marley's size, so pictures of Hannah and Marley sporting the dresses together will come soon!

Wishy Washy!

A few months ago we got a front load washer and dryer. Hannah hasn't showed much interest in it until this week. I was washing clothes and the washer is right at eye level for her. She starred at this for 5 minutes and just watched the clothes wash.

After we were bored with this she moved onto bigger and better things. Climbing in her car seat!

She is such a mess.

Sidenote:  Yall, I am so NOT ready to get rid of her infant carrier. I am stretching it as far as I can. I feel like I'm going to turn into a hermit and never be able to leave the house when we retire this thing and graduate to the car seat that stays in the car.  Right now I feel like I can take her anywhere with me at anytime because she'll just doze off in her carrier and get a nap in at anytime. My friends think I'm nuts because it's so heavy, but right now I feel like it's my ticket to freedom. What a dilemma!

Weekend Fun (starting Thursday)

While my brother-in-law is in Uganda for his new job (click HERE to see what's he's doing now), my mom
and dad are in town helping my sister out with her 3 kiddos. They got here on Wednesday
and we've been busy ever since.

Carter is playing soccer these days and Thursday we went to watch him practice.  But before practice, Granna and Pawpaw took the kids fishing and Hannah and I tagged along.

Carter caught 1 fish!

London didn't catch anything, but she didn't care. She was just having fun with her new Barbie fishing pole!

Hannah loved looking around at watching her cousins, as always.

Then on Friday after a playdate with friends, Hannah and I headed over to Aunt Christie's for lunch and more fun time outside.

My dad and Wes spent all weekend working on our landscaping. It turned out so good. I love it and am so thankful for a handy husband and dad!

Outdoors

Hannah loves being outdoors. Anytime she's a little fussy or squirmy, we just take her outside and she's so happy.

Swinging outside is one of our favorite things to do together. It's relaxing for both of us.

I'm looking forward to consistent warm weather so we can spend even more time outdoors!

Entertainment

Hannah loves to climb on things, over things and through things. She's a little monkey. I always get so nervous when she's climbing through her highchair or trying to climb onto the coffee table.  So the other day I put out all or our pillows so she could climb all over them and if she fell down, it would be soft!

She had so much fun!

Bed Head

Hannah has become quite the sleepy head lately. In fact, It's 10:00 a.m. and she's still sleeping. I'm sure that has something to do with the fact that she didn't go to bed until 10:00 last night and was up for an hour in the middle of the night!

At least she LOOKS well rested....

Desperate Measures

I have mentioned lately that it seems near to impossible to get things done around the house. If I open the dishwasher, Hannah's in it. If I open the fridge, she's there, too.

This week I was trying to cook dinner and she was pulling up on my legs and just right under my feet.  So, I looked around the kitchen to see what would distract her.

This worked perfectly!
When we are feeding her with a spoon she is always trying to grab it to play with so I thought, hmmm...if I gave her ALL her spoons that should really keep her occupied.

Now, what distraction will I use today?

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter!

Since Hannah is too young for candy, the Easter bunny brought her eggs and a toy in her Easter basket.
She loved it!

After church we headed over to Christie and Justin's house to eat and have an Easter egg hunt.

Then of course we had to get pictures of all the matching cousins.

It was a great day that ended with a much needed nap. This was Hannah's first Easter and we've now officially celebrated all the major holidays with her here. I can't believe that!
Our little girl is growing so fast.

Pool Time

Today it was so HOT outside. We went to the park for a picnic and we were all sweating. I told Wes it was time to get a pool for Hannah!

She absolutely loves it and I think she is going to be quite shocked when there is actually water in it. Right now she just thinks it's a toy that she can climb in and out of in our living room.

I can't wait to use it!

11 Months!

You are 11 months today, Hannah! You have accomplished so much in your short little life. You've conquered rolling over, sitting up, crawling, pulling up, standing alone for very, very short times, clapping, waving, pointing, and so much more! You are such a blessing to daddy and I and we love you so very much!

(You have your momma's LONG tongue, for sure!)

At 11 months you are....

  • Eating lots of table food & feeding yourself
  • Still liking your baby food
  • Nursing twice a day
  • In size 2-3 diapers
  • Going to sleep later and sleeping in a little
  • Waving
  • Clapping
  • Giggling all the time
  • Sleeping really well
  • Playing really well with friends
  • Learning the word "no"
  • So curious
  • In size 9 to12 month clothes
  • Pointing to your nose
  • Loving outdoors
  • Getting into cabinets, opening drawers & doors
  • About to outgrow your infant carrier
  • Tipping the scales at 18 lbs.
  • Still learning a sippy cup
  • Working on your top teeth, but still only have the 2 bottom ones
  • Recognizing some words and pointing to a few things if we ask you where they are
  • Growing like a weed
We've loved watching you grow from an infant to a little person.
I love every second I have with you, baby girl!
