Tweet, tweet

Are we crazy? The answer is definitely yes.  We've added a new addition to our family. A bird. Hannah has been loving birds lately and every time she sees one in the sky or walking on the ground she tries to catch it and yells "bird, tweet tweet."  So, Wesley, being the sweet daddy that he is, sought out to get his little girl a bird.

Our first visit to the pet store was not successful.  We found out that the cheapest bird cages are about $80. Yeah, right!  So a few weekends ago when we were in Houston Wesley's uncle generously offered a bird cage that would easily fit 50 birds. Thanks! (said with much sarcasm).  So with no more excuses, we headed to the  pet store tonight...and viola...

There is a bird in my living room!  Don't worry, it's not staying here for long.  It was dark when we got home, so we set it up inside so Hannah could "play" with it.  It's moving outside before we go to bed tonight, where it will permanently live.  Although I'm not thrilled about our new pet, Hannah really loves it, and that makes me happy to have it.

My only concern is what is Wesley is going to do when Ethan shows an interest in snakes. Oh, and my other concern is that our dog is currently going CRAZY thinking this is something she can eat. Fun times ahead!

First time!

Last week we went to the zoo with a few friends.  Instead of bypassing the yucky petting zoo like we typically do, we stopped by to pet the goats.

Hannah wasn't too sure about getting close to them and kept looking over her shoulder to make sure I wasn't too far behind.  That's OK with me, because that area of the zoo smells horrible. Goats are just not pretty (or clean) animals!

We tried to get a group picture of all the kiddos - which is near to impossible these days.

They all looked so cute when we stopped to eat some snacks. These kiddos are getting too big, too quick!

We hope to have plenty more trips to the zoo this summer! Oh wait, am I going to have a newborn?!

Pregnancy Highlights

I'm 32 weeks pregnant today!

Ethan is the size of a large jicama (whatever that is)

He weights about 3.75 pounds and is about 16 inches long.  I should be gaining about a pound a week from now until D-day! (Yikes)

He's developed toenails, fingernails and hair.  How fun! I can't wait to see what he's going to look like. I think he'll look a lot like Wesley's baby pictures, but I could be really off on that.

We've been getting some things here and there for his room. Hopefully this weekend we'll get a lot done and have an almost complete nursery. There's nothing on our agenda for now, so hopefully Wes will agree to have a "finish Ethan's room" weekend.

I've been starting to feel a little more pregnant lately. Just not being able to get around as well as I have been, harder to bend over to pick up toys and trying to bathe Hannah is getting impossible.  I don't know how I'm going to continue to grow over the next 8 weeks!!

If Ethan comes as early as Hannah did, our countdown is only 5 1/2 more weeks. Let's hope that's the case! I'm trying to enjoy these last few weeks, but I'm also so ready to meet this little man!

Outings

Well, from looking at my camera, Hannah and I have been busy little bees.  Last week we met a friend at the mall to ride on all the fun toys. The great thing about this age is that they don't care if the car is really moving. They just like to sit and spin the wheel and push the buttons.

That same day we met my sister and her kiddos at the park after Hannah's nap.  We went into the museum and instead of being scared of the animals like usual, Hannah loved them! She was making all the animal noises and barking at the fox.  Marley kept calling it a doggy, so I guess Hannah thought it was appropriate to bark.

On Friday Hannah and I went to Barnes and Noble.  They have an employee read a book to all the kids and then they get to color, have a cookie and have a little drink from the starbucks inside the store.  Mommy got to enjoy her drink for her!

This week we headed to my niece London's choir program at church. She did SO good!

Hannah did really well during the program and clapped after each song, but she was ready to keep coloring on the dry erase board, so she was happy when it was over!

I guess I've worn my little girl out with all of our fun. (Notice the chip in her hand. I gave it to her hoping to keep her awake until we got home - it didn't work!)

Love my little sidekick!

Houston Trip

This weekend we headed to Houston to visit Wesley's parents.  We figured we needed to get in one last little trip before Ethan gets here. After that, who knows when we'll feel up to traveling again! Hopefully it won't take too long to get back in the swing of things, but I'm planning for the worst - ha!

We had planned to visit a big, nice park in Houston while we were there, but my father-in-law saw on the news that the wait just to park was an hour, so we opted not to do that with a toddler. So, Saturday morning we headed to a local school and played on their playground.

Hannah had a great time and of course enjoyed the slide.  She had to check out every single piece of equipment they had, including the big kid swings.

And of course she wanted to climb to the tallest point of the play ground, as usual.

After our fun at the park we headed home for lunch and naps.  When we woke up we headed to Wesley's Grandparents house (Granny & PaPaw's).  Granny always has stuff on hand to make just about any type of cookie you would want.  Wesley's request was oatmeal raisin and it was Hannah's first time to help out.

She loved it and Granny was brave enough to let Hannah pour in the sugar and cinnamon.  Although, Hannah seemed to like licking her fingers and the spoon more than she liked the cookies.  She just liked picking the raisins out of each cookie and eating just those. Silly girl!

And on this Monday Hannah and I are getting back into our routine.  We woke up and headed to the mall for a little shopping and lunch. I thought she looked so cute in her spring attire this morning. Thanks, Granna - this outfit is from you!

I'm not sure if you can tell from this picture, but Hannah was ready for a nap. I told her she couldn't have her pacifier until she looked at mommy and said cheeeese. It worked! We sure are going to miss that paci one day.....

What a great weekend in Houston with family.  Hard to believe that the next time we'll be seeing some of Wesley's family is for the birth of Ethan! It's getting close!

I scream, you scream....

We all scream for ice cream!

After dinner on Wednesday we headed to Petsmart for a little outing to see the animals.  Hannah has had an obsession with birds lately.  We were considering getting her a little bird, but the cages were so outrageously expensive that we decided no on that.  Hannah actually really liked the snakes and rats -GROSS. Sorry girl, we'll NEVER own either of those creatures.

After that we headed to Braum's for some ice cream! Yummmm.

Wes and I crack up at how quick it seems that ice cream goes to her head.

Here she is mooing like a cow. There were pictures of cows on the walls.

She just gets so hyper after about 3 bites of ice cream. It's so fun to watch her.

Gotta love that chocolate mustache!

Happenings

Last year my mom monogrammed Hannah's name on the cutest Easter basket.  Well, a few days after getting it Hannah and I went to a Easter egg hunt and my friend Jennifer had just made her daughter the CUTEST basket.  Since I love Hannah's basket my mom did I didn't want to make one for Hannah, but yesterday I made one for Ashley's new baby girl.

I thought it was so precious.

This past weekend we had some sunny days, so Wes cleaned up our yard. Hannah, of course, had to help! Here she is showing me a rock she found.

I've been trying to keep Hannah up in the mornings these days.  She has held on to her morning nap for so long. I've been so thankful, but it has made it a little difficult to run errands and have play dates with the interruption of needing to be home for a morning nap. So now, we're trying to stay as busy as we can to last until about 1:00 for her nap.

Hannah LOVES water, bubbles and ice.  So on Monday I filled up one bowl of soapy water and another bowl of ice.  She had fun putting the soapy water into the ice.

On Tuesday my friend, Leslie, had a play date at her house.  We had so much fun.  She made some homemade playdoh, had a coloring table and a finger paint table. Hannah absolutely loved the finger paints. She stayed there pretty much the entire time.

We will definitely be doing this activity at our house soon.

And lastly, Aunt Jenn made Hannah some bows to match a dress they got her...for Easter, maybe? I think it was originally for her birthday and somehow she ended up with it a couple of months early.  That's Aunt Jenn for you!  Anyway, the bows turned out really cute and I was trying to get Hannah to look at me for a picture.

Well, she never looked.  This was me asking Hannah where Jesus lives. She looks down and says: heart. It's so sweet.

Hope all of you are having a great week!

Pregnancy Highlights

I'm 29 weeks pregnant today!

If I have Ethan as early as I had Hannah, that's just 2 months away from yesterday! Crazy! It's also crazy to think that even if I go full term this time, that's still just 11 weeks away. I'm getting so anxious.

Ethan is the size of a butternut squash this week. He's about 15 inches long and weighs about 2 1/2 pounds.

Wes and I were talking this week about whether or not we thought Hannah knew what was going on with the new baby coming.  We decided that we think she understands that there's a baby in my tummy and what that means, but she doesn't understand that this baby is going to be born and live with us. That might come as a shock!

Things I've done to prepare:  Well, I've ordered a scripture for Ethan's room that should look similar to this:

I'm excited to get this and hung on his wall.  We are in the process of cutting out letters that spell out his name and Wes matched the stain this weekend to his crib that we are going to stain the letters with. The dresser is ordered and should be in sometime this week or early next week.

It's all coming together!

Canton

Just wanted to do a quick little post about our trip to Canton this morning. I debated forever about whether to go. Hannah has really started rebelling against her stroller lately and being confined.  I was so panicked that she was going to do horrible. After much debate and Wes giving me a nudge, I decided to head out there. I was so worried that I was going to make the 45 minute drive and have to turn around and come right home.

To my surprise, Hannah did AWESOME. It's like she was proving me wrong for doubting her.  We went with a large group and Hannah and I actually spent a lot of time just the two of us.  It was so fun and when we got to the car I told her how proud I was of her and she just grinned ear to ear.

We just made it home with a new wallet for mommy and a few hair accessories for Hannah, but the quality time with my sweet girl was priceless!

A great day!

When Wes gave me my camera it had this video recorded on it:

Totally melted my heart!!! I think I'll keep it forever.

Well, on Tuesday I turned 28 years old! I'm getting up there and so much closer to 30! Wow, seems like yesterday Wes and I were 21 and 22 years old getting married.  I know we're still young, but 30 just seems like a big jump! My morning started off great. Hannah slept until about 8:00 and so when she woke up we hurried out of the house to get to Bible Study.

After my Bible Study my sister took me to eat at Don Juan's. It was so yummy. By far my favorite Mexican Restaurant.

Thanks to Uncle Justin for watching Marley & Hannah so we could enjoy a quiet lunch. I don't think my sister and I have had the opportunity to visit like that in months!

After lunch we headed home for Hannah to nap. She woke up so happy from her nap and we played a lot. I was so thankful that she was so happy all afternoon, considering we tend to melt down these days around 4:30 or 5:00 every day!

Then Wes and I headed on a date to Jullian's. It was SO YUMMY. I've been craving some fried rice and it totally hit the spot.  Aunt Jenn offered to keep Hannah while we were gone. It was such a treat to have 2 undisturbed meals in one day!

What a blessing it was to spend time with my family on my birthday.  I have so much to be thankful for and great friends and family that helped make my day extra special. Thanks, everyone!

Projects

Within the past few months I've spent most of my free time (Hannah's nap time) taking a nap myself. I've been so exhausted in the afternoons and I just can resist my big, comfy couch.  Well, I've gotten to where I'm not sleeping too well at night, so I'm trying not to nap as much during the days so that I'll be dead tired at bedtime. So, I've been filling my time with a few little projects.

One of them is a birth announcement I did for my friend Lindsay.  She had the sweetest little boy in January. I loved designing this owl themed announcement.

I also designed my best friend, Ashley's, daughter's announcements.  Is this not the sweetest little thing you've ever seen?

What a doll.  It was easy to do these announcements since the babies are so sweet and precious.  It makes me really excited to meet our little Ethan soon!

A project I finished this week was making Ethan's lamp for his bedroom.  I've shopped and shopped for lamps in stores and online, and there's really nothing that is boyish to match his room that I was able to find. So, I decided I would try to make something.

It actually turned out really good - which is shocking for most of my homemade projects! I used the same fabric that my mom used for his bedding. His room is really starting to come together and I'm ordering the dresser this week.  I'm waiting on a few things I've ordered to come in and once I get those things hung, I'll just be waiting on my little man to arrive. 12 weeks and counting!
