Pregnancy Update

Well, I'm 36 weeks pregnant.  Ethan is about 6 pounds and is about 18.5 inches long. My e-mail this week compared his size to a crenshaw melon.

I went to the doctor today and found out that I'm almost 2 cm dilated and 60-70% effaced.  Hmm...another early baby?

(self portraits are the worst, but I've forgotten to take a picture everyday this week!)

I've been feeling pretty good, especially knowing that the end is near!  Ethan's room is 99.9% complete.  I did some major nesting this weekend and cleaned out and organized every space in our house! Not a bad thing, I guess. Our spice cabinet is clean, freezer, pantry, bathroom cabinets, kitchen cabinets, etc.  I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and stocked up on toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, etc.

I talked to the doctor today about being induced on May 19 if he hasn't arrived by then.  She said she would pencil it in, but didn't feel like I'd make it to that day. In reality, she acted like she would be somewhat surprised if I made it to my appointment next week....which freaked Wes out more than me, I think! I feel like he's going to hang in there a while longer....

Until next time.

Happy Easter!

Our Easter morning started early, as does every Sunday morning.  Our Sunday School class starts at 8:15, so for us to be out the door by 8:00 is tough on any day when you have a late sleeper.

Since there was no way we were going to hunt easter eggs before church, we headed to Aunt Jenn and Uncle James' house after church for a fabulous lunch and a little Easter egg hunt for Hannah.

Jenn had a little basket for Hannah with goodies, of course.  Hannah loved it all and especially loved all the treats Jenn hid in the eggs.  Thanks Aunt Jenn and Uncle James for making Easter so special for all of us!

We even managed to get a decent family picture.  Hannah would NOT let go of her basket from Aunt Jenn for the picture, though.

After LONG, much needed naps for all of us, we headed to Aunt Christie and  Uncle Justin's house for more food and another egg hunt.

Hannah actually did better at this egg hunt, as opposed to wanting to open EVERY egg right after she found it at Aunt Jenn's.  Of course, we did have to take a break and try out the goodies.

I'm pretty sure Hannah consumed more candy on Sunday than she did actual food.  Oh well, once a year can't hurt, right?!

Although all the Easter egg hunts and family time was great, we try to keep focus on the main purpose of Easter, and that's of course that we serve a Living God that is risen.  Although Hannah is too young to really understand the concept of that, or the concept of the Easter bunny, our prayer is that each year we can focus more on the real reason for Easter.

Hope everyone had a blessed day.

Camera Clean out

I use most pictures I take of Hannah on my blog.  There are some that float on my camera that never make it here, but since I use this as my scrapbook, I try to document everything.  Of course, I spare you from posting the same picture 100 times, which is actually what is on my camera.

Anyway, I ran through some random pictures that haven't made it to my blog, so I thought I would share.  This is going to be a random post!

My friend, Lindsay, is the best gift giver. I always consult with her when I need gift ideas.  I met her for a little play date yesterday at the park and she gave me a gift for Ethan. (And Hannah) SO CUTE! I totally love it and can't wait to put my little ones in these sweet outfits.

Here's Hannah enjoying a waffle before a friend's birthday party.

A few weeks ago we had a bad storm and there were several areas without electricity.  Ashley was without power for several hours, so they came over to enjoy some cool air and I got some cute pictures of Lauren. What an angel!!!

Hannah and mommy enjoying a snack of boudain. Even though she's in her pajamas, it was like 4:00 p.m. It was a pajama day.  I thought all my cajun family would appreciate that Hannah loves boudain.

We enjoyed an Easter egg hunt at our friend Will's house. It was so much fun and I'm amazed at how Hannah knew exactly what to do, without me even telling her.

Showing me her finds so far.

Friday night Wes and I had the privilege of visiting with Pastor Emmy, who is the founder of PCM in Uganda. His story is amazing and what started as a "foster" care for children in his home, has led to him adopting over 500 kids to live at his schools.  Such an incredible man of God and a true testament to faith in Jesus.  It was a huge honor to meet him.

This weekend Wes did a little project in our backyard.  There are several little patches of grass in our yard that won't stay alive because it gets too wet when it rains, so Wes made a little patio to help with it. And also, I've asked Wes to make our back yard look like a magazine and he always says that I have to stop making our house a doggy daycare or the dogs will just tear it up.  We LOVE keeping our friend's pets while they are gone, but Jersey seems to get overly excited when she has friends over and together they manage to tear up our yard.  So unless your dog's name is Bear, Baxter or Charlie (our family dogs), I'm afraid our boarding house is closed.

First we had to do some dirt work and Hannah LOVED it. It was like a big sand box.

And here is half of the finished product. There is more flagstone on the other side of the column, but you get the idea.

I LOVE having a handy husband. This is step one to my magazine-looking backyard. haha!

I warned you that this post would be full of randomness!

New Toys

Hannah L.O.V.E.S being outside.  Usually before we can make it out of her room in the mornings from bed she's asking for shoes so we can go outside.  I love it, but sometimes it's hard to occupy this little girl (inside or outside!).  So we have been SO LUCKY and blessed to have some friends give us some fun outdoor activities and toys.

The sweetest story goes along with this cozy coupe (the two above pictures).  Our friends, the Walkers, gave this to us and dropped it off one day during Hannah's nap.  When she woke up, I told her there was a surprise outside for her.  So we ran outside and her face LIT UP and it totally made her day (and mine).  The next day we were playing in the backyard and she pointed to the front yard and said "surprise."  She wanted to go in the front and ride in her new car and was calling her car a surprise. It was so sweet and still, she calls this her surprise.  Thank you, Walkers!

The Rinewalts gave us this awesome bike trailer.  Hannah loves her bike seat, but we were thinking we would love to have a bike trailer for when Ethan is here so they can ride together behind Wesley's bike (cause this momma doesn't do well on bikes).

Hannah loved it, but wasn't sure about wearing a helmet in it for some reason.  I wonder what she will think when Ethan is next to her this fall. We shall see.

We're looking forward to having our new sandbox for Hannah's birthday from Granna and PawPaw Jerry. Which is 2 weeks away - OH.MY.WORD!  Along with the toys we got her to play with inside the sandbox, her baby stroller, water table, wagon, swing set and pink push car, I think this little girl is set for the summer!

A shower of Belssings

In my previous post I mentioned a little shower I was having at McAllisters. Wow - my friends blew my mind with all the cute, practical and fun things they got. I'm truly, truly blessed and I'm so thankful.

It was so fun getting together with my girlfriends and celebrating Ethan.  Jenn and Ashley made sure everything was super special and I am so thankful.

A group shot:

It was so fun loading all the goodies into Ethan's room last night.  We are truly blessed and can't wait to meet Ethan.

To-do List

Well, Wes and I have been busy checking things off our to-do lists before Ethan gets here.  Today is Mother's Day Out, so I got to run some errands and take care of some things a lot quicker than normal!  We have an almost complete nursery.  Wesley finished the letters for above Ethan's crib this weekend and they look AWESOME. Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE having a handy man as a husband?

We also hung up an airplane propeller that Wesley had in his room when he was growing up.  I need to replace the pink changing pad to blue. It's on the to-do list!

Here is the little corner I will probably spend LOTS of time in the first few weeks rocking and feeding my little boy!

I got Ethan's baby book ordered today, too and got a few things together for a little shower that my sweet friend and sister-in-law are hosting for me tomorrow night at McAllisters.  It should be a small little group of some great friends and I'm looking forward to visiting with them before baby E gets here!

Pregnancy Update

Well, I'm  34 weeks pregnant, and feeling (and looking) about 44 weeks pregnant!  I had a doctors appointment on Friday and found out that Ethan has dropped a little bit and appears to be head down for now. I hope he stays that way.  My doctor said he should, and she will check his position from here on out.  She also mentioned at my appointment that if labor was to start now, they wouldn't stop it.  I know I'm still tooooo early to deliver, but that made things extremely real and made me realize how soon we're going to have Ethan here!

Thanks for participating in my poll about Ethan's arrival.  Can I just say, bless your sweet souls who said I would go early?! I don't want to go too early, but a couple of weeks would be fabulous.

Ethan is now the size of a cantaloupe, weighing almost 5 pounds. My weekly e-mail said that babies born between 34-37 weeks generally have no long term health problems. That's comforting to know that I've made it to this point.  Wes and I just spent a few minutes talking about how surreal it is that he's going to be here....and soon!

Hannah has taken a big interest in Ethan lately.  She says his name, points to his bed and says "baby, sleep," and is just having a more overall understanding of what is happening....maybe! haha! I guess we will see.

6 weeks and counting....

Beautiful Hannah

I have loved spring time so far. I love that the weather is great and we can go outside every day.  I've also loved Hannah's spring wardrobe. I tend to wear "safe" clothes, but I feel like I can dress Hannah in all kinds of colors. I think we found her spring color today...

With her blond hair and still semi-blue eyes, she was just beaming in this teal outfit today.

I know I'm a little biased, but isn't she just beautiful!?

Many Looks - and a poll

My hair seems to always end up the same way.  I will grow it out, chop it off, then grow it out again and I always  end up wearing it the same way all the time. Just straight and down.  Well, I've been playing with Hannah's hair lately and it's so fun to give her lots of new looks. She truly is my little baby doll  that I love dressing up!

Here she is with a little flippy do.

On Saturday we tried a ponytail. I can't believe how long her hair is getting! A few more inches of growth and it will all fit in the ponytail.

We have her infamous pig tails, which are getting a tad out of control.

And just down, kinda curled under.

Oh, and bed head! (with finger paints on our face!)

Having a girl is SO FUN! She loves getting her hair done, toenails painted and pretending to put on mommy's make up. I love it!

I added a poll to the right side of my blog to see what you think about Ethan's arrival. Can't wait to see what everyone thinks!
