Camping Trip

So in my last post I mentioned that Friday night we went camping.  Our church has some property that is not far from our house and they had an organized camping trip so we decided it would be a great time to test out camping with Hannah.

The Hayes Family came too and we all had a great time.  They showed a movie on a big screen and also had smores, a little bit of praise and worship and a devotional.  It was so fun watching all the kids have so much fun.

Hannah loved it and I don't think she even realized that she was awake WAY past her bedtime.  At about 10 we went to our tent to try to get Hannah to sleep.  I laid her down and gave her my phone with a movie on it to get her settled down. She sat very still on her blow up bed and we put up a divider in our tent so she couldn't see us. The movie ended and I sang to her and told her goodnight.  She was quiet for about 30 seconds and then we hear her get up, walk around to our side of the tent and started playing.

Sleep outside? YEAH RIGHT!  Since the gate was closing at 11:00, we decided we should go ahead and pack up and head home, just to avoid a HORRIBLE night for us and the people around us. It was probably a good decision, and we really enjoyed our air condition and cozy beds.

We woke up super early and met everyone back at the campsite for breakfast.

We decided it would be best to wait another year until we try again!

A Fun Filled Friday!

Last Friday morning Hannah and I decided to make it a FUN day.  She's in this stage of being really fussy when she's bored, so I decided we would get out of the house and do some fun things.  We started by going to Barnes and Noble to read some books.

Hannah LOVED it. She was able to get out book after book and flip through the pages.  She'll repeat anything you say these days, so it was so fun to see her point at all the pictures and repeat what I was saying.

Then we headed to Toys R Us to find an outside toy she could play with now that the weather is cooling off.  Well, no luck with that, but we were able to find her a new little baby doll. She loves babies these days and is so sweet with them. She always hugs and kisses her babies and is ALWAYS saying "baby? baby?"

Friday night we had plans to go camping with our church. We were really excited, but as the day went on we realized that we don't have the best sleeper on our hands, so we were brainstorming about what we could do to ensure that Hannah may sleep a little better.  So, we went on a hunt for a blow up bed (a kid air mattress) and Wes found this pretty princess one at Target.

Hannah LOVED laying on it, but unfortunately didn't realize she was supposed to SLEEP on it....more about camping in my next post!

I think it's going to be a new tradition to make Friday's our "fun" days. We had a great time getting out of the house and doing new things.  I love spending mommy-daughter time with my little princess!

And just a cute picture from Sunday....daddy taught Hannah how to put her hand in her pocket. So precious!

A play date

Marley came to play this morning while Christie went to a little craft day at a friend's house.  We had lots of fun! We went on a wagon ride and the girls seemed to really like it.

Hannah recently discovered that the seats to the wagon fold down, and she prefers to ride that way.  But today, she actually preferred to ride on Marley's lap.

It was so funny, and Marley, surprisingly, didn't mind at all!

Marley recently sprained her ankle, which is so sad! Because of this, she can't walk or stand up at all, so she was crawling everywhere she wanted to go. Hannah kept saying "baby" all morning and was trying to give her food and drinks just like she does with her baby dolls.

What a great helper! Although, Marley didn't seem to want the help. We had a fun time!

Come back soon, Marley!!

Austin trip

Wes and I headed to Austin this past weekend for a wedding. We had a great time and it was nice to spend some time without Hannah, although I missed her like crazy!! She stayed with my mom and I'm pretty sure she got pretty spoiled and didn't have much time to think about missing us.

She came home loaded down with new pajamas, hair bows, movies, dresses and some fun new snacks...that may just be allowed at Granna's house!!  I know my parents enjoyed having her and we were happy to know that she was in good hands.  Thanks, mom and dad!

So I've mentioned before that I am HORRIBLE at remembering to take pictures.  Can you believe that we didn't even bring our camera to Austin with us?!  I did get a picture from my phone, though, of the restaurant we ate at on Saturday night. It's called The Oasis and the view and atmosphere was amazing.

Friday night we went to a restaurant called Shady Grove. It was a fun place, too and we saw Lance Armstrong! Wes wouldn't let me one of "those" people and ask to take a picture with him. Bummer!

We had a great time checking out some of the fun stuff to do in Austin. I sure was ready to see my sweet little girl when we got home!!

Your 16 month old: Week 2

If you have children, you probably recognize the title of this blog. It's the title of a weekly e-mail I get from babycenter.com.  I registered on the website when I found out I was pregnant with Hannah and it started immediately sending me emails about the growth and development of my unborn baby. It was really neat to see how she grew each week.

The e-mails have changed so much from when Hannah was an infant. I remember on her birthday, after everything settled down after her party I sat at the computer and checked my email.  The first email I saw said: Your TODDLER - 1 year.  I got teary eyed and realized the e-mails would no longer say "your baby."

Hannah has grown so much over the past 16 months and it just amazes me. Never did I know what was in store for me with her! She has been such a vibrant, curious little girl that explores everything!

And has a larger than life personality, for sure.

So even though my little baby has turned into a big girl, I'm still enjoying every little second I have with her.

I love you, Hannah girl, even with your little attitude!

A mini makeover

I am sure all of you remember when my friend Carrie overhauled my blog. She did an EXCELLENT job. Shortly after she did it, I bought some software that would allow me to be a little creative, too. Unfortunately, the software didn't magically make my brain have creative ideas. But, I've played around with it a little and have done a couple of little headers for some friends.

Here is one I did for my friend Jennifer. This one was super easy because it was just pictures, and because her little girls are just SO CUTE.

Then, my friend Emily let me use her a guinea pig as I played around with HTML codes and stuff to make a blog a little more fun.  You can check out all her little extras by clicking here

So even though I have a really long way to go, I'm having fun with my new little hobby!

Korn Pop

On Saturday Me, Wes and Hannah headed to an adoption celebration party.  A couple of our dearest friends adopted a precious little boy a few months ago, and it was finalized this week.

It was a great time and a wonderful reason to celebrate.  We are thrilled for Jason and Stephanie and we feel so lucky to have been a part of this journey with them.  They were busy bees the entire party, so we never got to get a picture of them.

Stephanie totally out does her self for every event. She goes over and beyond and this time she did it with a clown.  She hired a clown to be at the party. Such a great idea!!

Except for the fact that Hannah was TERRIFIED of him! She was so scared whenever she caught a glimpse of him. She would stop playing and run over to me. I think this is her seeing him and making her way to mommy.

Although she was scared of Korn Pop, she sure liked the crown he made her!

Thanks, Jason and Stephanie, for involving us in this extremely special time!

Donuts with Dad

Friday night Wes decided he wanted to take Hannah to get a yummy, sprinkle filled donut this morning. I'm not sure that she's ever had one before.

It didn't take her long to dig right in, though!

As you can see, she still had her pj's on!  She decided to sleep extra late this morning and we had to leave our house at 10:30 for a party, so she literally went straight out of bed into the car! ha!

I loved having a quiet morning and not diving right into everything for the day so early. I think this may be an EVERY Saturday morning thing!

A Day in the Life
