Back from the Dead

Last Tuesday I woke up with a stomach bug. I thought it was the normal 24 hour bug and I thought I would be better to go to a baby shower that I planned on attending on Wednesday night. Wrong.  This thing ran its course for DAYS. Today is the first day I've felt alive again. 

I felt so bad, so my mom came to help out with Hannah.  Of course while she was here she grocery shopped, picked up my house, did the dishes, and played dress up with Hannah every day.  Aren't mommies the best?

Although Hannah is a doll no matter what, I don't think she's quite ready for 2 pony tails. She looked much cuter with just one.

I'm so glad to finally be feeling better. 6 days of a stomach bug is long enough! 

Baby Steps

On May 29 Hannah took her first steps! It was so exciting, and from our reaction, she knew she was doing something good!  She continued to take a few more steps, only about 10 at a time, then she would hit her knees and crawl.

Well, this past week at the lake she decided it was time to walk - all the time! She's been going non stop. When she falls, she gets right back up and starts walking again. It's so funny to watch her. She's so unstable, but she just loves it.

Wordless Wednesday

Lake Vacation

On Tuesday we loaded up and headed to Lake Livingston for a vacation with my family.  There were 8 adults and 5 kids. A full house! 

It was a much needed relaxing week. Hannah spent a lot of time in the sun and worked up a great tan!

I am always trying to get a good family photo of the 3 of us, but so far, in Hannah's little life, we haven't accomplished that.  We tried again while we had plenty of photographers, and a couple of them came out OK.

Busy night!

Last night turned out to be a busy night.  Wes got home from work and we were busy until bedtime.  We started by trying to find a spare tire for our boat trailer.  We went to a couple of places and finally found one.  While Wes was doing a little shopping, Hannah and I did a little exploring.

After finding the tire, we headed to McDonald's for a quick dinner.

Then we were headed to Toys R Us. As you may recall, my parents gave Hannah a wagon for her birthday. It was the one we picked out for her and Wes was hoping that we could use it for multiple purposes (like hauling firewood, etc.) So, we got the old school little red wagon.  Well, we realized VERY QUICKLY that this wasn't the best choice.  Since there are no seats or straps like the new wagons, Hannah would stand up while we were pulling her. Not a great thing since we pull her on concrete.

So tonight we exchanged it for a better, "new version" of the old little red wagon.

This one is better already! No way she's getting out of those tight straps!! 

Happy Father's Day

So I know this is a little early, but we won't be home on Father's Day, so we decided to celebrate a week early!

We started the morning with breakfast, but not in bed.  Wes is a weirdo about crumbs in bed and won't eat anything in our bed. I, on the other hand, LOVE having snacks in bed!  But we did give daddy his gift in bed.

Wes and I decided that instead of buying gifts for each other like we would for birthdays and Christmas,  that we would do our best to make our gifts from Hannah.  So, this year I decided to do her hand print. 

After church we went to Roadhouse to celebrate. Hannah actually did really well, which is always questionable after being in the church nursery with no nap. She must have knew this was a special day for daddy and wanted to be on her best behavior. 

Wes spent most of the afternoon outside, which is his playground.  For Mother's Day I chose to to take a nap....quite a difference! It's funny to me that on Mother's Day all I wanted was a break from Hannah and Wes kinda wanted the same thing. Kinda funny...and seems backwards!

She is always so excited to see him when he gets home from work and talks about him non-stop all day! I'm thankful to have such a wonderful daddy for this precious baby girl. She doesn't know how lucky she is yet.  Hannah, you have the best daddy in the world!! One day you will see...

Throwing a Fit

Within the last 2 weeks Hannah has started to throw fits, in hopes that she will get what she wanted.  Last night right before bath time she was playing with my camera. (I was actually using it to keep her occupied while I undressed her).  Well, when it came time to get in the tub, that meant I had to take the camera away. She DID NOT like this.

I guess it was partly my fault because I let her play with it to begin with. I didn't actually give it to her, but it was laying on the bathroom counter when I set her down to undress her.

Since I obviously had my camera in my hands, I decided to capture the fit. Poor darling!

VBS

Have you missed me? Whew...what a week I've had!! This week we had Vacation Bible School at church. It was so much fun, but so exhausting. I had to wake up at 6:30 each morning to be there on time, and I'm not used to that! I had 3 year olds and they don't slow down! They are so full of energy. 

Our theme was heros and each day we taught a Bible Study that proved that Jesus is our ultimate hero. Don't be fooled, though. My sister was the actual teacher and I was just an assistant. She did all the work and I just had to play!

Even though it was exhausting, it was a lot of fun and I think all the kids enjoyed themselves.

Family Reunion

This weekend Wes and I went to his family's annual reunion.  This is the first one we've made it to since we've been married.  I know I've mentioned this before, but I'm HORRIBLE at remembering my camera at these types of things. Actually, I remember the camera, I'm just not good at remembering to use it!  

But, here is a picture of a lot of the family when everyone was here for Hannah's party in May. 

There were about 40 people there and most of them I had never met. It was nice to see the rest of the family and I know Granny & Papaw enjoyed showing off their great grandchild!

When Wesley was young they spent a whole lot of time at Granny and Papaw's house. They live on several acres and there is plenty to do out there. One thing Wes remembers from his childhood is riding this tractor around.

I hope this is the only tractor Hannah ever wants to drive! 

It was a fun weekend with family. We're glad to be back and are looking forward to a busy week! 

A Few Questions - Answered

Every now and then I get some questions in the comments part of my blog. I never really know how to respond to those questions....if you ask a question, do you come back to the comment section to see if I responded?  

Well lately I've gotten several questions, so I figured I had enough to just answer as a post.

Question:  Where did you get Hannah's cake for her birthday, and who made her outfit?

Answer:  My mom is obsessed with a particular cake lady that is from my hometown.  She made me, my sister and my brother's wedding cakes. She makes all of our family birthday cakes and my mom orders a cake from her for any occasion she can think of. So, sorry tylerites, she doesn't ship cakes!

My mom made Hannah's adorable outfit. We found the zebra onesie and my mom sewed ruffles and monogrammed her name on it. 

On May 27 I posted about my trip to see Wicked. Within that post I mentioned that I had never seen Mary Poppins or Top Gun. So the that's where this question stems from. 

Question:  Have you seen Mary Poppins as an adult?

Answer: No. And by the looks of the cover, I probably never will!

Question:  Where did you get Hannah's shoes? Are they pedi-peds?

Answer:  I got them at the shoe department for $12.99. Certainly didn't pay the price for pedi-peds! They stay on her feet really well.

Question:  Are you happy with it?

Answer: Yes! It's soooo easy. Wondering why I didn't do it sooner. It's only been 3 weeks, though, and I feel like I already need another cut. That's the downside to short hair.

And lastly. The toybox. There wasn't really a question, but I asked you what you thought I should do.

My friend Lindsay suggested that I get a vinyl picture or words instead of painting directly on it. I thought it was a fabulous idea! That's an inexpensive way I can do it and not feel guilty for painting over it later. I don't know if I'll do the ballet thing, or have something that says "toys" put on it. 

So there you have it. Sorry if you are bored, but I feel better having those questions answered! 

Festive

On Monday I put Hannah in a festive outfit for the Memorial Day Holiday.  Both of my grandfathers served in the Army and I truly appreciate everyone who is serving now. 

We went to our church's recreation outreach center and took some pictures. 

The most wonderful thing about this adorable shirt is that she wore it last year as a dress!!

It was a gift that I got from my friend Charity when Hannah was born. I'm so excited it is working as a shirt this year. And I can't believe it was a dress for her last year! She's grown so much this year. 

We had a fun time, but we were quickly reminded that any outdoor activity needs to be followed by a water activity. It is so hot outside and it's only June!
