I know that basically any update I do on my blog is a kid update, but I wanted to record some things so I would have them later.
We took Ethan in for his 6 month check up. He's a healthy, growing boy. He weighs 15 pounds, 12 ounces (16%) and is 27 inches long (72%). Long and lean. Where on earth does he get that from? ha!
Ethan continues to not sleep so well at night. He's been sick the past couple of weeks, with a cold and now an ear infection, but even before that I see no consistency with his sleep patterns. Nothing seems to help him sleep better...not food, a warm bath or a good schedule. He just needs some extra attention, I guess. He's still the sweetest little thing, but I often feel like I'm walking in a fog throughout my day due to lack of sleep.
Hannah is a VIBRANT little girl and if I had half the energy she had, I'd feel great. She skips, dances and sings everywhere she goes. She's never walking, always running. She doesn't sit still often. Just tonight while we were eating dinner she asked if she could take off all her clothes and hop. Why she needed all her clothes off to hop, I'll never know. It made it more entertaining for Wes and I, though. About 30 minutes later she had a huge melt down because Wes wouldn't let her sit on the kitchen counter in her birthday suit. That girl, I tell ya. She's something else.
Ethan is sitting up so well and he likes sitting and playing. He learned to sit so well over Thanksgiving, but unfortunately hasn't felt 100% since he learned, so we're still only sitting on the floor for short times before he starts fussing. He's capable of sitting for longer periods of time now, but he just wants to be held for now. While I'm enjoying the extra snuggle time, I'm also losing my mind. We have discovered "mum-mums" and those are helping give me a break so I can sit him down to take a shower. (If you saw me right now, though, you would wonder when my last shower was).
Hannah will NOT learn her abc's or to count. Anytime I start counting she says "NOOOOO, MOMMY - DON'T COUNT! Same with the alphabet. I asked Wesley's aunt to get Hannah a CD with counting and abc's for Christmas so she can listen to it in the car and maybe she will learn that way. I thought she hated the abc's because my singing voice isn't the best, but she's got me with the counting.
Both kiddos are thriving, healthy and such sweet babies. I love them so much and I LOVE my job as a stay at home mommy. I can't imagine missing out on one kiss, hug or melt down. It's the best and I'm so thankful. Although somedays Wes could attest that I'm less than thrilled to be at home wiping noses, cleaning messes and changing diapers, I really wouldn't trade it for the world.
Love my sweet family.
