Wesley's grandfather (PaPaw) makes the BEST peanut brittle. You can't find brittle quite like his anywhere. Well, a few years ago, Wes got the recipe from his PaPaw and gave it a go. He had some batches come out really good, and others....um, not quite as good, but always eatable! Part of the problem is that one of the instructions in the recipe is to "boil until it looks the color of the back of your hand".....ha!
Well, tonight he tried it again...
He was cracking me up while he was making it. He brought in a little gas stove (because we have electric) that we use for camping because apparently it cooks better on gas. So, to be safe, he brought in a fire extinguisher, which you can see in the background of his finished product....
And here is Mr. Chef himself, looking a little redneck in his plain white tee.
The finished product? A little sticky and under cooked. That's what he gets for listening to me when he
asked: "Does this look done to you?" Oops!
