Memorial Weekend Fun

This weekend we headed to my parents' house to celebrate Marley's first birthday!

Marley puts anything she sees in her mouth, so we knew she would love her birthday cake.

I will let my sister post the rest of the pictures on her blog.

On Friday night we decided to get the slip-n-slide out. Carter LOVED it and although you can't tell from this picture, Hannah enjoyed sitting in the puddle of water at the end.

While we were there with all the cousins, we decided to try and get some pictures of them in their matching outfits we got for them at Easter.  The older the babies get, the harder it is to get a good picture.

We managed to get a couple, though.

After the party on Saturday we went swimming.

It was the first time we really needed sunscreen on Hannah. We put some in her hair and realized it has a dual purpose - works great as hair gel!

We had a fun time and are enjoying Memorial Day at home today.

Wicked

If you know me, you know that I'm not really cultural. I only like movies set in present times. Not a fan of science fiction or westerns. I just like movies that are action packed or romantic comedies.  Anyway, my friends are always teasing me and can't believe I never saw Mary Poppins as a little girl, or I've never seen Top Gun.

So when my friend, Stephanie, invited me to go see Wicked in Dallas, everyone was shocked that I would have accepted. I think I even shocked myself a little.

I must admit, I wasn't 100% all about it at first. I knew I was in for a fun girls night, but I just didn't know about watching a musical. I made the comment to Wes about how I didn't understand why they felt the need to sing things, instead of just say them.

Anyway, long story short, I ended up having a GREAT time! Here are us girls...

Tamala, Leslie, Me & Stephanie

Maybe I'll broaden my horizons a little bit. Maybe I'll start with watching Top Gun!

Also, this was the furthest distance I had ever been from Hannah. Once the girls assured me I would survive the separation anxiety I was having, I was able to relax and have a blast.  I sure enjoyed my snuggle time with my baby today, though!

Better late than never

For Christmas my nephew, Grayson, got a toy box. It was so cute and after all the toys we got at Christmas, I realized we needed one, too! So, I put Wes up to the challenge. I asked him to build Hannah a toy box. Once again, he exceeded my expectations and built one to match Hannah's bed and dresser, which he also built.

How amazing is this?  Even though her birthday was May 1 and the toy box wasn't quite done, it was worth the wait. Hannah's room is clean again and you can actually see the floor!

(The "H" on the toy box isn't glued down. I think it needs a little something on top, so I just stuck that there because I had it. What do you think? A cushion? Her name painted on it? Suggestions?I thought about having ballet shoes painted on it, but what if she's not into that later?)

In case you never saw the dresser, here is a picture of that.

And the matching bed....

What a blessing it is to have a husband who can build things! I'm already planning out our future living room furniture!

And, just something random...Hannah woke up from her nap yesterday looking crazy. I would say she slept pretty well. Don't you think?

I think your tractor's sexy!

We've...well, Wes, has been extremely busy lately.  About a month ago he put up a fence in our back yard, built a retaining wall on the side of our house and this weekend he rented a tractor and did some dirt work to get ready to pour a driveway and build a shop in the backyard.

Carter came over to see how the tractor worked. He loved it!!

And of course London can't resist doing everything that Carter does!

Since I couldn't really help Wes in anyway because of a little one year old we have crawling around here, we decided to relax in the pool a little.

Although our yard looks like a construction site, Wes worked really hard and it's on its way to looking great!

Hair cut!

I originally said I was going to get my hair cut on May 27, but I got an earlier appointment and
 I chopped it off already!

I have been in the car for 4 hours, so it's a little smashed in the back.

And the side

So, what do you think? Was it good to let all of you decide how to do my hair?

Out with the Old, in with the New(er)

It's no secret that Wes and I love the lake.  I have been on water skis since I was 4. Unfortunately, I still look as wobbly as I must have looked when I was 4! Wes, however, is really good at water sports. Mainly wakeboarding.  So a few years ago we decided to get a boat. This was the boat we started with....

As Wes got better we decided to upgrade a little. This is our "new" boat!

Wesley and Justin took it out to make sure it was something we wanted to buy, but I haven't been out on it yet. I'm ready to spend lots of time on it at the lake!

And isn't the little head poking out in the bottom picture so cute?

Fun in the Sun

Today Hannah and I went on a wagon ride. It was so hot outside, so we decided to come home and get in the pool. That was a much better idea. It was our first time to play in it with water!

She loved going up the slide. We didn't try going down it yet, but she sure was trying.  Last night was our first experience with stairs and she loved them! Today she's been trying to climb on the fireplace and top of the TV stand (lovely). So she really loved trying to climb the stairs in the pool.

So I don't know that my grand plan to layout and get some sun while she swims and plays is going to work. She definitely wanted mommy to play and splash with her and help her up the slide. I didn't mind! This summer is going to be SO MUCH FUN!!
